Taylor Swift recently dropped the highly anticipated title track from her upcoming 18-tracks-long seventh studio album “Lover”. We’ve been listening to it on repeat ever since the release, no we’re not exaggerating even a little.

Released on August 16, “Lover” is a love letter to a person you want to be with forever and spend the rest of your life with. The bridge sounds similar to beautiful wedding vows made to your partner. The song is a soft tune and literally a bop, with the lyric video garnering more than seven million views since its release. It’s safe to say that the internet is swooning and has gone crazy over Taylor’s latest release, which follows on from ME!You Need To Calm Down and The Archer.

Ever since the release, fans of Taylor Swift are trying to decipher the meaning behind her lyrics.

“Is she engaged?”

“Are these wedding bells?”

“Is she living with boyfriend Joe Alwyn?”

“Is she going to marry her boyfriend soon?”

In her speech at this year’s Teen Choice Awards 2019, Taylor mentioned the release of the title track, stating:

“There’s so much I’m excited about coming up in the next 12 days until my album Lover comes out. The album comes out on August 23rd, but I wanted to tell you guys tonight that on the 16th, I have a new song called ‘Lover’ that’s coming out and I’m excited.”

Fans who attended the Lover secret sessions also revealed that Taylor wanted the song to have a “timeless” feel, and thus, used instruments which are mostly played in a wedding band. In her recent cover interview with Vogue, Taylor mentioned that the song has “one of her favorite bridges“, and after it was released, a fan, who attended the Lover secret sessions also revealed that Taylor had told her that “Lover” is her favorite song ever written by herself.

Taylor has historically taken inspiration from her relationships when it comes to songwriting, and she has continued her tradition by writing her latest track “Lover” for her boyfriend Joe Alwyn. (“I’ve loved you three summers now, honey / But I want them all”). The pair started dating in September 2016 and her fans are in awe seeing them together. Many fans are speculating that Taylor and Joe might be making wedding plans due to the relatable lyrics, “my heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue,” referring to the old adage that every wedding needs, “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.”, while some fans are already planning to use the song at their own weddings. Cute!!
