The incident occurred during Owen’s qualifying run for the competition when he drifted high into Turn 3, lost control, and slammed into the wall. 

His car hit the outer wall and flipped multiple times along the third turn on Saturday night, eventually soaring airborne and coming to rest in the center of the circuit. 

After USAC red-flagged the race, the event was later declared canceled due to the passing of young racing star, Owen.

The announcement was made shortly after midnight, and tributes from the racing community, friends, and family began pouring out. Justin Owen age was just 26 when he left his family, friends, and racing community forever.

Late on Saturday night, Kenzie Knapp, Owen’s fiance, changed her profile picture to one of them sharing a kiss, along with a heartfelt caption: “I love you more than you can imagine.”

Who was Justin owen?

Justin Owen was a rising star in the world of sprint car racing. Born and raised in Harrison, Ohio. He had been a veteran sprint car racer, competing at the Lawrenceburg Speedway for the past several seasons. 

According to a USAC news release, Owen earned his first championship title in 2022 at the 3/8-mile dirt oval, where he had been competing in the sprint car division for several seasons. 

Among his top achievements was a victory in the season-ending Dick Gaines Memorial during his championship season at Lawrenceburg in 2022.

Owen’s racing career was impressive, with him achieving not only a championship title but also three victories in 2019.

These victories were earned at Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway for the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series, Indiana’s Paragon Speedway, and Lawrenceburg’s Night of Champions event. 

It’s clear that Owen was a skilled and accomplished driver, leaving a mark on the racing community that will not be forgotten.

He made two feature starts with USAC, both at Lawrenceburg, in 2019 and 2021.
