Roi was born in Dagupan City in the province of Pangasinan in the Philippines. When he was 2 years old, he and his family moved to Durham, North Carolina. He has three younger siblings - Reymound, Russell, and Ariel.

He joined YouTube in July 2006 and began creating videos with his friend Alex Burriss, known as Alex Wassabi. The pair became famous, and in 2008 formed their own venture called Wassabi Productions. He went to Durham Tech Community College to study nursing but then left. He subsequently joined North Carolina State University in a Computer Engineering course only to drop out to focus on his YouTube career.

During his tenure in Wassabi Productions, Alex and Roi played various characters, and did comedic acts, vlogs, challenges, as well as parodies, playing these characters. Their big breakthrough, however, was a parody of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”.

He then went on to create his solo channel, as well as his second channel, both of which initially featured similar content to what he did at Wassabi Productions, but he later realized that he wanted to do something different. As a result, he left Wassabi Productions in 2016.

His main solo channel “Guava Juice” took off in 2015 and grew because of his outlandish and downright illogical challenge videos and comedic videos.

Roi has done some outright dangerous challenges on his channels as well. Many of these have over 10 million views. He usually did cannonballs into baths unless there were living creatures like puppies and snakes.

Sometimes, he also puts a huge amount of food and drinks into his bathtub for challenge videos. These challenge videos have often earned criticism on account of wastage of edible items, as well as allegations of animal cruelty.

As of 2022, other than challenges and comedic content, he also has a YouTube Original called “The Guava Juice Show” which is uploaded on this channel. Roi has a second channel called “Guava Juice 2”, where he posts similar content as his main channel. This channel has been active since February 2012. Roi has also tried his hand at creating content on a gaming channel called “Guava Juice Games”. The channel has been active since October 2017.
