Chris Boucher had a solid freshman year at New Mexico Junior College, averaging 11.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. He subsequently attended Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, where he led the team to a 31-5 record and was named NJCAA Player of the Year.

He shot 62.7 percent from inside the arc and 44.4 percent from three-point range that season, averaging 22.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 4.7 blocks a game. His 11.8 boards per game and 4.7 blocks per game both were in the top three in junior college that year.

When Boucher visited Oregon on a college tour, he decided to transfer there as well. Among the schools he looked at were TCU, Minnesota, and Texas Tech.

Ducks Coach was first frightened by Boucher’s thinness and height, but Boucher’s intensity won him over. In his second game for the Ducks, against Baylor’s Rico Gathers on November 16, 2015, he scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

With 110 blocks in a season, he established a new record for Oregon. The Ducks lost to Oklahoma 80-68 in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament despite Boucher’s 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Boucher was granted a hardship waiver after the 2015–16 season, allowing him to play for one more year while completing his sociology degree. While playing for the Ducks, he posted a 12.0 ppg and 6.8 rpg average over two seasons.

As a senior, he earned a spot on the all-conference defense. However, during the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals versus California, an opponent landed awkwardly on Boucher’s leg, suffering a torn ACL and forcing him to miss the balance of the season.
